While reiki is spiritual in nature - in that it provides love and compassion to the client - it is not a religion.

Though it has been practiced for thousands of years, and its history is as old as some religions, it has no dogma and does not conflict with religious belief.

People of many religions and belief systems all over the world practice reiki and find healing.

It is a wonderful complementary modality in a personal wellness or healing program.

Reiki is a practice of transmitting healing energy through the hands. It is not massage.

You will be fully clothed while reclining on a massage table or chair, and the practitioner will use hand placements on different locations of the body.

If you prefer not to be touched, reiki will still work with the hands hovering over the positions.

The Reiki belief system is that the practitioner doesn’t cause the healing, nor is the source of the energy.

The practitioner is the conduit, transmitting/channeling the energy to the client through the hands.

The hands are placed on or near the body in various positions around the head, shoulders, stomach and feet. Some practitioners may treat above the body.

A treatment can feel like a warm glowing radiance that flows through the body. You may feel warm or cold. It is very relaxing and different for each client. Some don’t feel anything at all.

Treatments can release negative feelings or thoughts leaving the client feeling more positive, lighthearted and with a feeling of well-being. Drink plenty of water and practice self-care.

Among the benefits of Reiki healing, here are a few of my favorites.

  • Promotes relaxation and reduced stress and anxiety.
  • Stimulates the Immune System
  • Increases energy levels.
  • Relieves pain and tension.
  • Promotes self-healing.
  • Improves sleep quality.
  • Supports the sense of well-being.
  • Can increase feelings of peace, relaxation, security and wellness.

I also feel it’s worth mentioning and remembering, Reiki will not interfere with other medical or pharmaceutical treatments but rather enhance the positive life energy flow.

Originating in Japan, Reiki is a form of energy healing that helps the body use its own ability to balance and heal itself.

It is a non-invasive practice that helps you relax and decreases stress, anxiety, and pain.

When some people experience stress, illness, or emotional trauma, their energy can become blocked or depleted which can cause imbalances in the physical, emotional, or spiritual well-being.

The practitioner channels the universal life force energy into the client's body, helping to unblock and balance their energy centers, or chakras, as they are also called.
